If you’re dreaming of a wedding that reflects who you and your person are as a couple, I invite you to continue reading. Whether you’re into western weddings out in the country or not, this post is a great resource to find what your style is and how to portray that on your wedding day. As a Professional photographer who has captured many love stories, I want to share with you my take on wedding days and how I’m such an advocate for smaller, more intimate weddings or elopements.
For this particular couple, they chose to have their intimate wedding out on their own property in Bozeman, Montana. Nestled in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, this charming town offers stunning landscapes, rustic venues and an undeniable charm that makes it perfect for couples who value those same characteristics. Ultimately their own property had everything they were looking for and it had some sentimental value to them.
I highly recommend choosing a location that has some sort of meaning to you both. First decide on a general location starting with what state, and then town or mountain or even river! You could choose a national park, a venue that really reflects your style or river that means something to you. The options are limitless and that’s why elopements and intimate weddings are my favorite.
One of the joys of eloping is the freedom to make your ceremony truly your own. There isn’t this pressure from family and friends. Your day should just be about the two of you and your desires, not just a party for your guests.
For this western wedding, simple touches were made to express their western theme. They had a walkway with barrels that had pictures of them, western flowers and at a few barrels, they had cowhide rugs. The groomsmen wore cowboy hats and boots and they even had an old vintage getaway car for after the ceremony. These little details reflected their style perfectly.
Finding the right photographer is crucial! Look for someone who has experience with elopements and Intimate weddings that understands the unique challenges and opportunities they present. I always recommend reviewing portfolios to ensure their style matches your vision—whether that’s candid, editorial, or a mix of both. Getting your Engagement photos done by the same photographer is a great way to get to know the photographer and their editing style. Editing styles are an important factor to consider when choosing a photographer for you. If you’re wanting a western kind of style for your photos, a photographer with a dark and moody kind of style probably isn’t right for you.
An intimate western wedding in the countryside can be a beautiful expression of your unique love story. By carefully selecting a meaningful location, personalizing your ceremony, and choosing the right photographer, you can create an unforgettable experience that truly reflects who you are as a couple. Remember, this day is about celebrating your love without the pressure of a large gathering—embrace the freedom that comes with intimacy. Whether you opt for rustic decor or modern touches, your wedding should embody your shared journey and aspirations. So go ahead and let your personality shine through every detail, making your wedding day a testament to your love and commitment. The possibilities are endless, and with a little creativity and thoughtfulness, you can craft a celebration that will forever hold a special place in your hearts.
